We are seeking a Programs Lead (Identified) to join 2Spirits. This pivotal role coordinates and supports programs, projects, and events that improve outcomes for First Nations Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Queer, Asexual, Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBTIQA+SB) communities across Queensland. You’ll provide operational leadership for the 2Spirits suite of programs, strengthening sustainability, capacity, and capability to deliver culturally safe, community-led services.

 

The successful candidate will ensure every individual receives respectful, affirming care while connecting people to resources that address broader social determinants of health. You will champion health promotion, including Blood Borne Virus (BBV) and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) prevention, sector development and reform, policy and advocacy, and continuous quality improvement, embedding Elders’ guidance, cultural protocols, and First Nations worldviews at the centre of our work.

 

Genuine Occupational Requirement

This role will also provide support to our 2Spirits Team across the state to ensure that the team are connected and supported in ways that are led by Culture. To this end, this role is an identified role in that it is a Genuine occupational requirement that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and a member of LGBTIQA+SB Communities. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

 

Further, through this role, the person will perform duties that benefit the members of a group of people with an attribute whose welfare the act was designed if the purpose of the act is not inconsistent with the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. Welfare measure exemption (section 104).
